The making of a folded leaflet

The way we describe folded leaflet printing is based on three criteria:

• Number of pages
• Finished size
• Positioning of the folds

Measuring the number of pages

Pages are measured by the number faces, so a flat sheet of paper has two faces, front and rear and the therefore it has 2 pages. If we were to put one fold in that paper it would then have 4 faces/pages, (front cover, inside cover, back cover, inside back cover)

Calculating the finishing size

The finished size is the size of the material once folded, so for example if an A4 sheet is folded in half (across the width) it would have a finished size of A5 (if it was folded in half across the length it would have a finished size of A5 long i.e. Same area, different shape)

Folding position and pricing

Folds, there are an unlimited ways in which a paper can be folded, but in the main there are a few that are common place. If standard folding is used the price remains the same, however for intricate or diagonal folds the job becomes a bespoke order and will be priced differently.

What is the most popular folded leaflet style?

One of the most commonly ordered print is a '6 Page DL' this is where an A4 sheet, has two folds each exactly one third along the length, creating a DL and the two folds create 6 faces/pages.
